The General Sir John Monash Awards

The General Sir John Monash Awards annually present eight awards to outstanding Australian citizens graduating from Australian Universities. This enables recipients to undertake postgraduate study abroad at the world's best Universities, appropriate to their field of study.

UTS Filmmakers have again been successful at having their films accepted into competition in the 2005 Dendy Awards for Australian Short Films Competition at the Sydney Film Festival.

Walking the Street 2005

100 artworks - over 65 shopfronts - a gallery on the street
For two weeks from Saturday 11 June to Sunday 26 June Newtown’s King Street will come alive. Painting, sculpture, object art, installation, linocut, photography, new media, jewellery, stained glass and ceramics and other creations by local artists will that will transform south King Street shop fronts into gallery spaces. A former UTS student, Cayte Latta will have her artwork displayed at the Sandringham Hotel.

City to Surf

The 2005 City to Surf will be held on Sunday 14th August. If you can run, walk or roll, get involved in Sydney’s famous day out that takes participants from the city, through its beautiful harbour side suburbs and finishes at Bondi Beach. The event also raises money for charity and takes on quite a party atmosphere afterwards.

Posters from the 3 Deep Design Collection

UTS Gallery invites you to the the opening of the Armin Hofmann exhibition on Tuesday 28 June from 6 - 8pm.
Hofmann was a pivotal figure in mid twentieth century graphic design and his work was to exert a significant influence on design internationally. Hofmann's posters, publications, lettering, symbols, architectural graphics, stage and exhibition design all express his distinctive graphic language and formal purity. Hofmann’s accentuation of contrasts between various design elements formed the basis of this universal language; the use of abstract forms communicate ideas directly to the eye.

David Roennfeldt, Creative Director of 3 Deep Design in Melbourne will give a presentation on 3 Deep's design work and their collection of Armin Hofmann posters.

Felicity Stafford, a UTS graduate of Management and International studies (2004), has been working in Fiji to eradicate poverty. Fiji is normally thought of a picturesque holiday destination, however Felicity has uncovered another side to the pacific hot-spot, a side stricken with poverty and desperately in need of help.
