Melbourne Film Festival kudos for UTS alumnus
UTS alumnus, Lucille Clements has been invited by the organisers of the 56th International Melbourne Film Festival to screen her feature length documentary, Rock'n'Roll Outlaw.
Rock'n'Roll Outlaw is filmed on-the-road with Australian rock band Rose Tattoo. Revealing rare private collections of photographs, the film is a fascinating insight into the history of the worldwide 'Oz Rock' phenomenon. Featuring founding members Pete Wells, Angry Anderson, Ian Rilen, Mick Cocks and Geordie Leach, the film revisits social attitudes of the 1970s with 'zine clippings and press reviews, documenting the shock created by Rose Tattoo's unprecedented impact as the 'tattooed rock band'.

Andy Porter - MA Professional Writing, 2007

UTS alumnus, Andy Porter worked on his children's novel series Matty Swink, as part of his MA Professional Writing course. After the manuscript was declined by what seemed to Andy as "all the agents and publishers that ever lived", he decided to put his money where his mouth was and give self-publishing a go.
The website www.mattyswink.com has a sample chapter as well as a great dramatised audio reading.
Andy gives us an overview of his first novel - Matty Swink: Curse of the Moon Mice: "Eleven year old Matty Swink desperately wants to be a famous chef and escape Fenella's miserable diner where he is the live in, all purpose slave.
"One day a grand Cook Off is announced. Whoever can get the pernickety Princess Meg eating again will be ordained the new 'Chef Laureate' and be given a luxury pad right inside the palace. This is Matty's big chance and he knows just what to make. Unfortunately, Fenella has her greedy eye on the prize too and will do - and cook - anything to win.
"But winning can leave the most 'DISGUSTABLE' taste in your mouth, especially if the main ingredient is a 500 year old curse!"
Please keep us updated with your career news, or any achievements and awards you may have received. We are preparing our next e:Connect and would love to hear from you.
Email your career news to alumni@uts.edu.au
