Alumni Advantage Program FAQ


What is Alumni Advantage?

It is a benefit for UTS alumni, providing them with a 10% saving on tuition fees for full fee paying courses which commence after 1 January 2017. You are an alumnus if you have graduated from any of the below courses:

  • Graduate Certificate
  • Graduate Diploma
  • Bachelors degree
  • Masters (by coursework or research)
  • Higher Degree Research (PhD)
Am I eligible for the saving?

You are eligible if you have completed an award/degree course at UTS. The saving also applies to eligible course if you are in any of the following categories:

  • Newly completed students who have yet to formally graduate but have completed the requirements
  • Alumni from antecedent institutions who meet the minimum qualifications (completed an award course) and can be verified by the Alumni Relations Office
  • Alumni who are in receipt of other scholarships/sponsorships
  • Alumni undertaking a full fee paying award course
  • Alumni receiving the benefit who transfer between eligible degrees
Who is not eligible for the saving?

The saving is not available to those in a:

  • Commonwealth Supported Place
  • Research Training Scheme place
  • UTS Course delivered offshore

The saving is also not available to those:

  • Studying at UTS for one or two sessions (Exchange and Study Abroad students)
  • International students studying “nested courses”
    • For example, a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma that articulates directly into a Master’s degree
  • Undertaking a pathway or enabling course through UTS:INSEARCH (or other pathway provider)
  • Non-award Courses
  • UTS Short Courses (some courses already provide a 10% saving to alumni)
I graduated from an antecedent institution (pre 1988) – am I able to get the saving?

Yes, you are eligible if the courses you completed at an antecedent institution entitles you to UTS Alumni status. Click here for more information.

I am a current student and UTS graduate studying a postgraduate program – can I get the saving for the remainder of my course?

Yes – if you are already an alumnus of UTS you will have the saving applied to future fee invoices. It will not apply retrospectively to subjects already invoiced and paid.

What courses does the saving apply to?

It applies to all eligible alumni undertaking full fee paying postgraduate, undergraduate or research award courses below:

  • Graduate Certificate
  • Graduate Diploma
  • Bachelors degree
  • Masters (by coursework or research)
  • High degree Research (PhD)
If I am accepted into an eligible course, how is the saving applied?

Savings are automatically applied to your invoice on enrolment.

How do I apply for the saving?

You will automatically receive the saving on enrolment for study from January 2017 if you are an alumnus and the course is eligible for the saving. Normal application close dates apply.

How much is the saving?

10% on the full tuition fee per eligible course.

If I get fee-help to pay for my post-graduate course am I eligible for the saving?

Yes, so long as you are eligible as an alumnus of UTS, and the course is eligible, you will get the savings applied to your fees.

Why aren’t Commonwealth Supported Places included in the saving?

Students studying on a Commonwealth Supported Place are already receiving a subsidy on their fees, so are not entitled to an additional fee reduction under the Alumni Advantage program.
