Michael Coutts-Trotter was appointed Director-General of the Department of Finance and Services on 4 April 2011.
"UTS opened my eyes to the value, and occasional dangers, of applying theory to understand the rough and tumble of life.
He was the Director-General of the NSW Department of Education and Training for four years and before that Director-General of the NSW Department of Commerce for two and a half years.
He worked as the Chief of Staff to the NSW Treasurer for seven years.
"UTS opened my eyes to the value, and occasional dangers, of applying theory to understand the rough and tumble of life," he says.
"I learned lots – how to write and something of how to reason. I also discovered how little I really knew. Best of all, I made and kept some friends."
