Alumni Cocktail Celebration on 31 May 2016
1 July 2016
We were delighted to participate in the first historic event of its kind – the celebration of the Guangzhou-Sydney Sister City Relationship 30th Anniversary on 31 May 2016. This special occasion brought together more than 200 alumni of six Sydney-based universities, dignitaries and senior government representatives in the largest city in South Eastern China.
Guest speaker, prominent Chinese-Australian businessman and philanthropist, Dr Chau Chak Wing, talked about the growing importance of links between Sydney and Guangzhou. He emphasised the importance of educational and cultural connections in bringing China and Australia together through exchange, joint research, collaboration and a focus on young people who are building the next generations of leaders in business, government and the community.
We were also honoured to have Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore at the event.
As part of the celebrations UTS formally established a South East China alumni network, with UTS alumnus Eric Chow as its patron.
