April promises to be an exciting month, with the official opening of our science and health precinct’s remarkable Thomas Street Building, featuring a state-of-the-art Super Lab and a new public-facing psychology clinic, as well as the recent announcement of UTS’s Sports Central Campus at the SCG.

UTS has certainly been making its mark in 2015! Following on from February’s opening of the UTS Business School, last week we were proud to officially open our fantastic new Graduate Health and Science precinct. Complete with Australia’s largest super lab, a forensic crime scene simulation lab and a living "green roof" for biological research, the building includes public health clinics specialising in pharmacy, psychology and orthoptics.

Despite the chilly start to winter in Sydney, there’s a lot happening around campus with the spectacular lights of the Vivid Festival featuring nightly light installations in the new Central Park district, and 2013 UTS Alumni Award winner Casey Hyun delivering the Vivid Festival Keynote this week.

It has been a month of remarkable achievements – we were excited to see our former Vice-Chancellor Professor Ross Milbourne receive an AO in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for his distinguished service to higher education, with nine alumni also recognised in the honours.

It's seems like Spring marks the beginning of awards season, with two UTS academics awarded 2015 Eureka prizes, known as the 'Oscars' of the science world. Two of our most accomplished graudates – Professor Carolyn McGregor AM and UTS Luminary Nasima Rahmani – are also speaking at the Advance Global Australian Summit in Sydney.
